Dr. Chaoqun Liu received his BS in 1968 and MS in 1981 from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China and PhD degree from University of Colorado at Denver, USA. He is currently the Tenured and Distinguished Professor, a highly honored academic title, and the Director of Center for Numerical Simulation and Modeling at University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington, Texas, USA.

Vortex is intuitively recognized as the rotational/swirling motion of the fluids, but a universally accepted definition of vortex is still not available. In this talk, Dr. Liu will present the development and progress of a new generation of vortex identification methods by the Vortex and Turbulence Research Team at University of Texas at Arlington (UTA Team).

熊永亮，分别于2003年和2006年获得哈尔滨工程大学学士和硕士学位，2008年获哈尔滨工程大学博士学位，2010年获法国波尔多大学博士学位。曾任法国INRIA研究员、波尔多大学博士后、法国波尔多数学研究所研究科学家，现任华中科技大学力学系副教授。研究方向为计算流体力学和减阻与推进，发表研究论文40多篇，研究成果被Phys.org， New Scientist，Daily Mail, Science World Report等多个国际科技媒体报道。
