Dr. Koichi Tsuchiya is the Managing Director of International Center for Young Scientists (ICYS) in National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan. He is also the Group Leader of Corrosion Resistant Alloys Group in Research Center for Structural Materials and a Professor in the Graduate School of Pure and Applied Sciences, the University of Tsukuba.
Since the first reports in 2004, high entropy alloys (HEAs) have been drawing much attention as a new class of metallic materials. The HEAs exhibit various attractive properties, such as pronounced work hardening and enhanced ductility at cryogenic temperatures, high fracture toughness, high fatigue resistance as well as the creep resistance comparable to nickel-base superalloys. Present talk focuses on the process of nanograin formation by severe plastic deformation in fcc HEA alloys.
